Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Words entered in a search box go to the outside provider operating that tool. We do not keep a local log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you send a message, we may retain it long enough to respond and maintain normal business records. We do not disclose it outside the organization unless law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Ordinary web logs may record technical facts such as an IP address, browser and operating system, device type, referring page, pages viewed, time spent, and visit timestamps.
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies and analytics tools help measure traffic, diagnose faults, and understand how pages are used. A browser can block cookies, though some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
Collected technical data may be used to operate and secure the site, route a requested partner search, repair errors, assess useful content, and display advertising.
No Court-Record Data on File
Lewis County Court Docket does not host, compile, sell, or maintain databases of personal court records. It points readers toward the Lewis County Circuit Clerk, other trial-court custodians, WVPASS, and MCRSearch. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report. Public access to official records remains governed by W. Va. Code §§29B-1-3 and 51-4-2 and the West Virginia Trial Court Rules.
Third-Party Search Partners
An outside company processes information entered into its search tool under its own policy. It controls retention, sharing, results, and pricing. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to West Virginia courts, Lewis County offices, statutes, or outside services. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy policy applies. Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across sites.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may reach analytics and advertising vendors, a search partner processing a chosen query, service providers needed to run the site, or a public authority acting under valid legal process.
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can promise absolute security, so transmission and storage still carry risk.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly seek personal information from children. Information known to have been submitted by a minor will be removed when identified.
Your Data Rights
Rights vary by location and applicable law. A person may ask what personal data we hold, request a correction or deletion, or object to certain processing where the law provides that choice. W. Va. Code §29B-1-3 concerns requests to public bodies for public records; it does not turn this private site into a government custodian.
Updates to This Policy
A revised policy will appear here, and the effective date will change when the terms are updated.
